Mr. Charles Aniagwu, the spokesperson of the campaign council of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party has urged Nigerians not to make the mistake of submitting themselves to internal slavery by all the promises made by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
The spokesperson said the APC presidential candidate has captured Lagos State and he is looking for means to expand his territorial control beyond Lagos and wants to control the entire country in form of slavery.
Mr. Aniagwu stated this while briefing Journalists in Asaba, the Delta state capital on Tuesday.
He said for those who don’t know, a number of the major projects in Lagos State are controlled by the same individual stating that when you get to Lagos and ask them about the BRT which handles the issues of transportation, you will discover that it is handled by the man’s family. The signage in Lagos where you have billboards and everything about signage which is a big business in Lagos is handled by his son while the collection of taxes in the state (Lagos being the biggest in terms of tax collection) is handled by a company said to belong to this same man aside many other sources of revenue that Lagosians might have benefited from.
According to him “You also do know how he handicaps those who governed Lagos to the extent of Ambode, a man that was reputed to be doing very well was taken out of office because he disagreed with them on how to share the funds of the people of Lagos and for such a person to now aspire to govern our country will be very detrimental to all of us. It means we want to submit ourselves to slavery.”
“Nigerians must stop Tinubu from crossing Lagos into the other 35 states and the FCT because that could amount to internal slavery for all of us when he alone will determine who becomes the next president, he alone will determine who gets what by forces and not interaction within the balms of democratic governance.”
“As part of his quest to expand his greed on the state and capture the state, they have cooked up stories because they have seen that our presidential candidate has won the minds of Nigerians based on the conviction by a good number of Nigerians that Atiku Abubakar is a man that has what it takes to recover this country and place us on the part of growth and development. They have come to wake up a blackmailer who called himself a whistleblower, I’m happy that you are very much informed as newsmen to know who a whistleblower is and who is a blackmailer.”
“Let me put it on record that Michael Achimugu was not a staff of Atiku Abubakar, he works in one of the support groups and closely with the daughter which is a different thing entirely. He was not employed by Atiku to work for him and if what he does is to begin to record his boss or your friend and you call him a whistleblower, all of you here know that is not a whistleblower, that is blackmail. And anybody who is a blackmailer cannot be taken seriously and that is why we don’t want to take the issue seriously because it was not done to help our great country.”
“Also for our brothers in the APC particularly Festus Keyamo and the likes of Femi Fani Kayode, individuals we know too well in this country in terms of where they stand and the credibility that they parade, shouting and screaming saying that they want to get a petition and even accusing those of you in the media that you are not reporting the issues on time as if they are the ones to teach you how to report.”
“As a political party and as a campaign council, we do know what the issues are. The issues that most Nigerians have lost their jobs, more than 133 million Nigerians are now suffering from what is called multi-dimensional poverty, our infrastructure is not in the best of shape while our unity is challenged and there is a need for our children to have the best of education to curb the sapa syndrome and of course, we need to be able to grow the food and indeed to progress our country from this very consumptive atmosphere to much more productive environment.”
“Those are the issues, so in that attempt to want to distract us by raising issues that don’t add up to enable them to have their way to enslaving the rest of us, we want to urge Nigerians to be willing to ask those in Lagos what they are going through whether that is the kind of thing they want to happen to us as a country. I want to say God forbid it because our forefathers fought the slave master, the colonial masters, and chase them to where they came from and we were able to regain our independence. You know what slavery did to us, the number of manpower that was taken away from us and indeed the rest of Africa to Europe and America, which is why we cannot bring back our internal slave masters to come to govern us and then dictate how our means of production will be distributed.”
“For us in the PDP and our presidential candidate, we desire to take steps to get our economy to work again. We desire to ensure that the whole country comes together irrespective of your ethnic group and the religion you profess, we want to as much as possible to give a dirty blow on this very decisive tendency where individuals keep rebelling against one another based on the ethnic group they belong to or the religion they belong.”
“Our presidential candidate is very much desirous of ensuring that infrastructure which is not the best of it at the moment is fixed, our presidential candidate appreciates the facts that insecurity has done very great damage to us as a people, It has hindered productivity, it has weakened the fabrics that bind us together and as such our presidential candidate and his running mate are very much concern to ensure that the length and breadth of the country particularly the 36 states and the federal capital territory are very well police such that security returns to every part of the country.”
“They are also very much determined in the medium term to bring up an amendment to some sections of our constitution particularly the aspect that deals with exclusive lists such that power is further dissolved to the component unit and then gives way for a possible introduction of state police, community policing and other forms of policing that will enable individuals to feel safer than they do at the moment.”
“And so, Nigerians shouldn’t be distracted from what the issues are as is just about 38 days to the general election, they want to bring up issues that will distract us from where we are and where we are going and any attempt to fall into that trap will amount inadvertently yielding ourselves to the slave intent of this person, who has succeeded in placing some elements slavery on our brothers in Lagos by collecting a whole lot of resources which they claim they grew from N600 million to N50 billion without the litigation benefiting from the excess of that very high rise in the internal revenue of Lagos State.”
“You do know what happened in Lagos when people woke up very early for them to be able to beat up traffic compared to some very functional state. In Lagos, some left their houses as early as 5 am and have not gotten to their workplace even until 10 am. That is an addition to the slave mentality that they placed on our people in Lagos State who are working very hard daily to earn a living.”
“So if anybody tells you that the APC is going to renew any hope, they are lying because they have not given us any hope in the past let alone renewing it, that is why we cannot afford to subject ourselves to renew hopelessness which Tinubu and members of the APC are promising.”
“We need to inform Nigerians so that they don’t make the mistakes of falling into this trap set by Tinubu and his APC co-travelers who are very much desirous of distracting us from what the issues are which I have stated very clearly in the cause of this briefing, the spokesperson added.
