El-Zakzaky: Shiites Attacks Police, Civilians And Others In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has said members of the El-Zakzaky led Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) assaulted security operatives and civilians in Abuja on Tuesday.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Anjuguri Manzah.

The Police said members of the Islamic group went berserk on Tuesday and attacked citizens around the Berger roundabout with dangerous weapons.

“As a result of the unfortunate incident, one person who sustained an injury and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention has been certified dead by medical doctors on duty.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Bala Ciroma has ordered a full-scale investigation into the unfortunate incident”, it added.

The statement also added that peace has been rebuilt to the area.

The Shiites recently stated that increasing pressure on the Buhari government due to the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague to investigate the Zaria Massacre of 2015, has led to attacks on its members.

IMN vowed that they would heighten friendly campaigns until justice is done to the victims.
